About Om Prakash Chippa

Bagru printing is a unique art form from Rajasthan. Bagru is known for natural dyes and hand block printing.

It involves sketching a pattern onto the background cloth and covering it with clay and sawdust. The sawdust sticks to the cloth as the clay dries. Thereafter, the entire cloth is dyed in select colours.

After dyeing and drying, the cloth is washed to remove the clay and the mixture.  For additional colour, this cloth is dyed again in a lighter shade to cover the patterned area.

Om Prakah and his family have been practicing this art for generations.
