About Akshaya Kumar Bariki
Born in 1981, Akshaya Kumar Bariki is a young Pattachitra Artist who comes from a family that has been involved in this traditional art for a few generations. The family hails from Raghurajpur – Heritage Village. Starting at a very young age, right from school, he has almost 20 years of experience in the field and is constantly evolving his technique. A National and UNESCO Award Winner, Akshaya breathes new life into one of the oldest art forms of India.
He is a National (President) Award winner in 2011. He has also won an award from UNESCO in 2014 for making 64 forms of art (performing and nonperforming) in his work and for keeping the tradition alive.
